Challenge Completed

If you watched the battle report you would know that by my Saturday deadline I got all the paras (except the two I kept back to do a step by step guide) done up to the static grass.  Ok the ATG wasn't flocked but that is because the basing mix took ages to dry.
Here they all are in the cabinet before the game.  The unpainted model at the back is their tetrarch waiting on the tank painting binge (coming soon).

Today I applied the static grass using my flock box, so apart from the PIAT team (to be used as a guide) and the tank they are all finished.  I haven't worked out the bolt action points cost but it is probably close to 2,000.

Bolt Action Battle Report

I am uploading a Bolt Action battle report as I type this.  We play the "Last Stand At Arnhem" scenario from BattleGround: Europe.  The battle has some tense moments (especially with the luck preliminary bombardment and the combat with umbrella!).

We fight at 1280 points as we decided to add some extra stuff.  We use John Frost, using the rules from Battleground: Europe and my new 4Ground building.  I am going to have to buy more of these, really solid and good quality.

The army lists used were...

British Paras
All troops Veteran except the free observer
John Frost with bugler
Sniper
Flamethrower in jeep
6 pounder QF ATG
Recce Jeep with dual vickers
PIAT team
4 para squads with everything
Medic (who we decided added his morphine to the tea he was drinking as he never fixed anyone up)

German panzer grenadiers
All regular except for officers who are veterans
Leutnant with soldier
Hauptmann with soldier
3 panzer grenadier squares with assault rifles SMGs LMG
3 Hanomags
Flamenwerfer
Sniper team
Mortar team (inexperienced) with spotter
Puma
MMG
Medic

Almost there

Faces, hair, moustaches all done now.  The bases have been painted, crew members put into ATG and jeeps nearly done.  All that is left for tomorrow is a bit more work on bases (probably won't be flocked AND grassed but I may get lucky) and the jeeps and ATG need finishing.  It has been a hard week.  After this only two more airborne left to paint (a post team I am going to use to do the guide)

Hope they do well in the game lol.

The end is in sight

Weapons and webbing and some highlighting now done.  Flesh base coated and texture applied to bases.
Need a bit more highlighting, moustaches and hair doing and weathering.  Then the bases need to be painted, flocked and grassed.  I did the basing instead of finishing off flesh today to give the glue time to dry.  This way I can paint them tomorrow safe in the knowledge that the glue is dry

Challenge continues

HSo working on the camouflage tonight.
Used Vallejo Bronze Green 897 for the first part, my next task will be 846 Mahogany Brown and then black.  When all that is done, it will be onto the webbing.

Edit

Well after a night'spainting I have done the 3 colours of the camo.  Don't think I will have time for the webbing tonight, that wil be tomorrow's task

Progress report before bed

A late night getting started on hobby challenge.

Painted the smocks in either Vallejo 821 german camouflage beige, or 885 pastel green.

I then applied a wash of GW Athonian camoshade over them, and painted the berets Vallejo 946 dark red.

Tomorrow, when the ink dries I will do the camo, then webbing and gaiters, highlight the trousers and tie them all in with a shade.
