I managed to get up early this morning and got the minis covered in a blend of static grasses. Here are some photos of the WIP. Remember the PVA is still white in these shots. I also took the opportunity to "camo-up" some of the helmets (that have a mesh on them) with small pieces of clump foliage.
The static grass was mixed and different mixes were built up over the models to give a varied and textured tone of grass. The grass was applied using the weird looking device here. It applies an electrical charge across the grass so it forms more upright and natural clumps.
The next stage will be to apply some dead leaves and clump foliage to the bases, as well as some small rocks to break up the green. This however will have to be done later as I need to go to work. The dead leaf scatter is quite cool looking, i think it is birch seeds or something that have been dyed. These will be put onto the bases this evening (fingers crossed I get the time, not home from work until later this evening so who knows)
The above pictured Pak 40 had dried enough after doing the rest to place some clump foliage on it to give an example of what the next stage will look like.
The next stage will involve clumps of wild grass on some of the bare earth areas. These are hand made using 10mm, 4mm and 2mm Static grasses to give a wild and unkempt look.
I use a flockbox (here on eBay) to create these. They were used on the machine gun nest last pictured in another post.
I will hopefully post some picks of the finished models after stones have been added and some shading has been applied to the grass.
