Infinity Evening

after purchasing presents and roses for my darling wife, I got to spend the evening hammering out several games with the usual suspects.  My wife has painted the microart studios objective room for me (it was nearly done on the weekend but is fully finished now). It is a cool bit of terrain, and it allowed us to play the armoury scenario from the N3 book.

We had a good evening, and the scenario was quite a challenge.  In the scenario, you have to be able to use specialists to enter the room and search for items, but you also need to be able to keep the opponent out.  The usual light specialists do not cut it at this, and required some beefier support.  It was ok for me, as I was using my tohaa, and so a triad could have a specialist, heavy hitter and some DTW/zero v smoke to keep pesky intruders at bay.

The initial game was great, albeit a little excessive lol.  Daf, one of our new players brough a Combined list with Ko Dali and an Avatar in it.  The avatar was a beast, but as he was too big for the doors, had to guard outside and leave the job of storming to an Ubra Legates hacker and some Unidrons.  His opponent had a Saladin list with Al Djbel and a Fiday.  The Fiday didn't do much other than scare a Maakrep and cause him to expose to sniper fire, but the master himself killed some morat before taking out the Avatar in CC, no mean feat.  This didn't swing the result though, as the nasty Ubra held the room til the end.

The second game say the CA lose the avatar in favour of a Skiavoros and a Speculo Killer.  The later removed a link team with ease, but the Skiavoros forgot about AD (Gao Tarsos HMG) who walked on from the side and had a perfect shot as his exposed rear.  Game was tight, but a victory to Tohaa (had 38 vs 37 points in room at end, after getting carried away and shooting Ko Dali allowing her to dodge into room, doh!)

We recorded this for a Batrep here

Luckily we had Diablo on the XBOX One to keep the rest of the people entertained whilst we recorded (as we had several beers and ciders for those not driving or organising (at least until later lol) it was the best choice to keep them quiet and the video family appropriate lol.

The rest of the evening saw the tactics getting less "precision strike" and more "john woo" as after the video, I joined the guiness appreciation society, and the person driving decided a sofa was a better alternative.

The next match was Aleph vs Pan Oceania.  Trying to explain to my wife how Ajax couldn't go into the room was a challenge.  We did decide that his hammer was big enough to smash an Ajax size whole (we made him do 1 extra Str damage) but he was then hit by an ADHL from a croc man FO (looted from the panoply).  Took several more orders to kill him though, as apparently panO "train to hit targets that are ducking and weaving, not standing still at short range" which explained the series of misses.

The next game had some more insane misses.  We decided the troops must also be imbibing the refreshments, as it too a Tank Hunter auto annoy 3 attempts to hit a wall.  This has lead to the adaptation of a famous phrase... Can't hit the broadside of an objective room at 10 paces, as after the Ariadna example, a Swiss guard missile launcher failed in the next game.

Generally a good time was had by all, and we will put up some pics when we find the SD card for the camera (oops)
