About Me

Well What can I say....

I have been doing this hobby for too long, and every time I think about what I have spent on it, I shudder.  If I didn't war-game and Roleplay, I could probably be driving a very nice sports car and being a douche.  Ah the possibilities ;-)

Still I went the wargaming route, and therefore I have whole rooms in my house dedicated to my toys.

What games do I play?

Well, the following list is not exhaustive, but it is a good start.

  • Infinity. This is the game I play the most.  It is a smaller scale skirmish game, using some awesome 28mm miniatures.  It is set in the not too distant future and has a great reaction mechanic.  I have gone down my usual over the top route, and have at least 300 points of all the main factions, and quite a lot of the sectorial as well (oops lol)
  • Bolt Action. A great 28mm WW2 game by Rick Priestly and Alessio Cavatore.  An interesting turn sequence mechanic makes it an interesting game to play.  I have German (main), British and US forces for this.
  • Saga. A great fun dark ages skirmish game.  Simple rules and huge fun.  Still working on building the Saxon village, will do an update on this when I get the time.
  • Bliztkrieg Commander.  This is a rather excellent set of 10mm WW2 rules.  Very simple, very fast and great fun.  There are also other version (Cold War and Future War) that cover modern and sic-fi rulesets.  Well worth getting, as all the army lists are in the books and they really are great fun. One day I am planning to build a pair of Cold War Commander armies for a Red Dawn style scenario.  Go Wolverines! Blitzkrieg Commander
  • Rules of Engagement. This is a really awesome set of WW2 skirmish rules ideal for 28mm models.  It is a small company, but the rule set is great fun.  I specially like the response in a FAQ to the question "Q: Machine guns seem very deadly... A: yes, yes they are!".  Any game where you can shoot the tank commander out of his tank gets my vote.  Recommend people to take a look. Rules of Engagement
  • Warhammer 40k: Probably the game I used to play the most.  I have far too many armies, and far too many projects on the go.  Been playing this since Rogue Trader.  There is no point stating what armies I have here, as they are constantly being updated, suffice to say I have most of them at various stages lol.
  • Necromunda: Recently getting back into this after a long absence.  Great fun for small quick games and bloody vendettas
  • Mordheim: As above, only with rats and derring do!
  • Battlefleet Gothic:  Giant space battles and planetary assaults.  :-)
  • Trafalgar: Warhammer Historical naval game.  Good fun.  Starts slow, but builds up to nailbiting rather fast.  Best memory was a friend being shocked that he couldn't turn a large spannish galleon at full speed before it hit the beach, followed by an indignant "What do you mean I am stuck for the whole game?" after realising that you cant unbeach yourself quickly.  Ah the fond memory of anchoring behind him and shooting til he was dead lol.
  • Legend of the Old West:  Cowboys and Texas Rangers... Nuff said.  Great game for playing in not much space and time.  Again by Warhammer Historical.
  • Dead Mans Hand:  Another fun Wild West game, uses cards for random activation.  Really fun especially the shoot out scenario.  By Great Escape Games.

As you can see, I do far too much wargaming.  I once had a curtesy call from Forgeworld because I didn't order anything one month and they were checking if I was ok lol.

Hopefully I will cover several of the above as this blog continues.  Feel free to message me about any games or armies you would like to see.

Like everything these days, this blog has had a reboot.  I have been busy with work, and only now have any time to devote to this.  I will try to include more content this time round.

All the best

J
