Battle reports

2 new WW2 barrels up on YouTube today,  both small skirmishes Germans vs Soviets, but one using Bolt Action (warlord games) and one Rules of Engagement (great escape games)

The bolt action lists were

2 veteran panzer grenadier squads with 2 LMG, SMGs on NCOS and 4 Assault rifles in one of the squads.

Hanomag

Medic
Veteran second lieutenant.

The Russians had

Second lieutenant
1 SMG squad
3 LMG squads
Anti tank rifle squad
Free rifle squad.

For the rules of engagement battle report the forces were
1 panzer grenadier platoon
    Command section
    3 squads each with 10 men and 2 MG43s
Machine gun section.

The Russians had...
Rifle platoon
    Command section
3 full rifle squads with LMG
     Mortar
     Recon squad.

I was going to do it as a tutorial but my opponent had limited time and we wanted to get both games in as he is testing out his Russian army before working out what to assemble next.  I will do a more in depth tutorial series for this and dead mans hand when I get the time, as I have stuff to finish for the demo game of infinity in Penarth show next weekend.

Painting challenge complete (more or less)

I have finished my painting challenge for this week now with completion of the 4 primed bolts (I needed the hacker and I thought I may as well do the sniper, spitfire and Combi as well lol)
As I have finished early, I have 2 options for the rest of this week. They are...

finish the other 3 bolts and some other odds and sods for the Neoterran list.

Assemble the Domaru and Takeshi and get a start on them for my Yu Jing

Start on the acontecimento models

Argh decisions lol.  This is without doing my Indians for "Dead Man's Hand", or British WW2 commandos, or my Waffen. Then there is the unfinished projects under the table arghhhh.

I think for this week I will do some of the infinity though, keeping the others for after the show. Maybe do the Indians as a painting challenge?  Depends if I buy anything else in the show lol.

Painting challenge

3 HI done for the Panoceania lot.  Just some bolts to do in the challenge this week.

Although I did buy...

So I may end up with an extra figure.  Need to get the fusiliers box for some gear for them at some point.  Then I don't know what lol maybe some Military Orders stuff, or hope for new Bagh Mari and Kamau?  The least said about the Croc man the better.

Any suggestions?

The next challenge

For this week, I intend to paint the next 150 of the infinity force, and some extra neoterra no bolts so I will have a link team in my Neoterran sectorial.

The model list is...

Father Knight
Aquila Guard
Swiss Guard
Bolt Hacker
Bolt spitfire
2 bolts

If I get time I may do the bolt missile launcher, sniper and last combi rifle.

The heavy infantry were all based in the first two layers of blue this evening, so I am off to a good start. Will post some shots tomorrow if I get the time.

Our first dead man's hand battle report.

We tried out hand at a battle report for the awesome Cosby game "Dead Man's Hand" today.  We had some teething trouble, but had a great time doing the battle report.  The game was so fast paced that we needed to do a full turn by turn rather than summaries, as we found we missed out stuff in the first turn.  Was a tense and nail biting game, especially as the Outlaws would not lose their Nerve.

Well worth checking out the game from Great Escape Games.

Yes we did put a TARDIS on the board ;-)

Infinity battle report

Just posted the first in our escalation series of Batreps using the painting challenge models.

My list was...

3 fusiliers,
Neoterra bolt with drop bear
Nisse sniper
Orc lt with multi rifle
Alkalis with boarding shotgun

Bang on 150 points.

Infinity N3 session

Had a few new/new to N3 players over last night for a few quick games.  Didn't video them as they were beginners and some were a little camera shy (retreating out of the room even for still photographs lol) Went down really well, and we are hoping to make it a regular thing.

We had an Aleph player, combined, panoceania, acontecimento, military orders Haqqislam and my Yu Jing.

Army lists were simple and for the most part based around starter sets.

Aleph
3 dakinis
Deva hacker
Deva Lt
Atlanta. (OMG super scary lol.  Not getting woman of match though as hitting on a 20 most of the time is not bi and not clever lol)
2 Netrods

Combined
Umbra Legates, K1 Combi and Lieutenant
Fraacta hacker (decided hacking is for geeks and went combi-rifle crazy)
3 Unidron Batroids plasma carbines
Maakrep HMG

Panoceania (painted like iron man lol)
Orc multi rifle Lt
4 Fusiliers
Croc Man Hacker
Nisse Multi Sniper (died in 1st turn every game lol)

Acontecimento
3 regulars combi
1 regular sniper
Bagh Mari combi
Akali hacker
Knight of montesa lieutenant

Military orders
3 order sergeants
Spec sergeant sniper
Teutonic knight lt
Magister knight DA CCW
2 fusiliers

Haqqislam
Janissaries lt
Fiday
Naffatun
ragik hacker
Rafiq remote
2 ghulam

Yu Jing
Ninja with bow (death by shotgun crit)
shinobu Kitsune (death by shotgun crit)
3 Keisotsu
Domaru Lt (leapt from train into combat, because he'll it works in movies and to everyone' surprise (especially the Orc), it also worked in infinity!)
Yuriko with panzerfaust

We didn't use link teams, but we more or less used everything else.  Atlanta was brutal, but luckiest model of the evening went to the Maakrep, who with a degree of good fortune that was extra rid nary survived every wound put against him, and killed a model. A turn in two game.  Luckiest shot went to a Keisotsu, (BS 10) shooting at extreme range at a target in cover (-9 to hit) and killing it dead!  Unluckiest was a tie between Shinobu and the Ninja.  Both were crit but shotguns with stupid modifiers to hit.  We had a few solo games, and a multiplayer (teams) to end the night.  I am thinking of getting a. Mat from MAS so I can do another table with the Op:Ice card stuff.  I have 2 boards already, the city and a forest outpost (WIP), so that would cover really big evenings.

Challenge complete (and early!)

So my challenge this week was 150 points of infinity.  This was a lot less minis than my previous challenge (over 60) but infinity figs are all quite detailed.  I based and started to spray at the start of the week, but didn't get started until Tuesday night (migraine struck on Monday, and I had to tutor someone Tuesday evening).  Didn't finish the first minis until Wednesday night and although I was enthusiastic for colours I had picked, the challenge seemed daunting.  But after a heavy bout of painting this evening, the other 4 got painted.  Astute observers will notice that there is a fig swap from the original challenge minis.  I decided the special edition was better.
Three fusiliers ready for action.  I went for a darker blue than the traditional, as I sometimes find infinity minis can be painted too bright for combat soldiers.

Next two done were the Orc and Cosplay edition bolt (will do the drop bear tomorrow)

The Orc was easy to paint and got finished super quick (he is mainly armour after all) so I decided to watch a movie and press on...
...with he Akali.  I really like the new sculpt,  can wait for some other options, such as Boarding Shotgun and Hacker.  I may get Kirpal Singh to add to my force.  With it not being "too" late, I put on another movie and went to work...
...on the Nisse sniper.  Again, I really like the new sculpt, and can't wait for more.

Challenge complete, so I will use tomorrow to paint some more PanOceania or Yu Jing I think.

Challenge figs

Here are the 6 minis for this weeks challenge

The next painting challenge!

We may have some gaming guests this coming weekend, who would like to borrow some minis.  As I need to do them for Crusade in Penarth on 31st Jan anyway, I though starting on the Panoceanian minis for infinity would be sensible.  I am thinking of a turquoise grey couloir with bright contrast, and possibly white berets.  Probably keep the bodysuits under the armour brown/tan coloured.  Will do a WIP this week.  It is only 150 points this week (an easy challenge after the 60 or so minis last week) which will equate to about 6-7 little soldiers.  Easy.

Challenge Completed

If you watched the battle report you would know that by my Saturday deadline I got all the paras (except the two I kept back to do a step by step guide) done up to the static grass.  Ok the ATG wasn't flocked but that is because the basing mix took ages to dry.
Here they all are in the cabinet before the game.  The unpainted model at the back is their tetrarch waiting on the tank painting binge (coming soon).

Today I applied the static grass using my flock box, so apart from the PIAT team (to be used as a guide) and the tank they are all finished.  I haven't worked out the bolt action points cost but it is probably close to 2,000.

Bolt Action Battle Report

I am uploading a Bolt Action battle report as I type this.  We play the "Last Stand At Arnhem" scenario from BattleGround: Europe.  The battle has some tense moments (especially with the luck preliminary bombardment and the combat with umbrella!).

We fight at 1280 points as we decided to add some extra stuff.  We use John Frost, using the rules from Battleground: Europe and my new 4Ground building.  I am going to have to buy more of these, really solid and good quality.

The army lists used were...

British Paras
All troops Veteran except the free observer
John Frost with bugler
Sniper
Flamethrower in jeep
6 pounder QF ATG
Recce Jeep with dual vickers
PIAT team
4 para squads with everything
Medic (who we decided added his morphine to the tea he was drinking as he never fixed anyone up)

German panzer grenadiers
All regular except for officers who are veterans
Leutnant with soldier
Hauptmann with soldier
3 panzer grenadier squares with assault rifles SMGs LMG
3 Hanomags
Flamenwerfer
Sniper team
Mortar team (inexperienced) with spotter
Puma
MMG
Medic

Almost there

Faces, hair, moustaches all done now.  The bases have been painted, crew members put into ATG and jeeps nearly done.  All that is left for tomorrow is a bit more work on bases (probably won't be flocked AND grassed but I may get lucky) and the jeeps and ATG need finishing.  It has been a hard week.  After this only two more airborne left to paint (a post team I am going to use to do the guide)

Hope they do well in the game lol.
